Jan 14 — Via Dolorosa

We entered the Old City at the Lion’s or St. Stephen’s Gate, by St Anne’s Church at the Pools of Bethesda (John 5:1-9.) before we began our walk through the 14 stations of the Via Dolorosa, Christ’s route to the Cross, reciting the rosary at each and ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher for Mass. We passed through the streets of the Old City we see the colorful Arab bazaar. We returned to the Temple Mount area to tour the Jewish Quarter and learn of the exciting discoveries that were only possible after the Reunification of Jerusalem over 40 years ago. We visited the Western Wall and the Southern Steps of the Temple Mount and then on to view the recent excavations that have revealed the Pool of Siloam (John 9:1-12) in the area of the Springs of Gihon and Hezekiah’s Tunnel, part of the original water source for ancient Jerusalem.
