We visited Bethlehem which is very close to Jerusalem, passing by Rachel’s Tomb en-route, and then transferred to our Palestinian coach to meet our local guide for our visit to the Church of the Nativity and the Milk Grotto. We attended Mass at the Church of St Catherine’s beside the Church of the Nativity. We viewed the Cave of St. Jerome where he translated the Hebrew scriptures into Latin. Then we stopped at the Shepherd’s Field, where recent excavations in the area of the fields have revealed churches and evidence of 1st century occupation of caves in the Shepherd’s Village. Finally we shopped at an olive wood shop owned by Christians before returning to Jerusalem. Upon our return, we stopped to overlook Jerusalem from the southern vantage point. We enjoyed dinner at our hotel.
