“The Scrutiny Passion” with Jeremy Stanbary & Maggie Mahrt

Stanbary Cavins The Scrutiny Passion

I would like to introduce you to “The Scrutiny Passion”, a collaborative performing arts project between Epiphany Studio Productions and the St. Olaf Catholic Church Worship & Sacred Music Series. Featuring international performers, Jeremy D. Stanbary and Maggie Mahrt, this new drama brings to life the Passion of Jesus Christ through the eyes of three gospel figures who were changed forever by their encounter with the Messiah: the Samaritan woman at the well, the man born blind, and Mary, the sister of Lazarus. The play reveals deep insights into the human condition, the mystery of suffering, as well as God’s infinite mercy and love.

Founder/Executive Director Jeremy Stansbary received his Fine and Performing Arts degree in the Theatrical Arts with a performance emphasis from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and was awarded the top scholarship for actors at UN-L two consecutive years. After an Augustinian-like conversion of heart during this time, Jeremy forfeited his scholarship in order to focus more time and energy on growing in his relationship with Jesus Christ. Upon graduating from UN-L, Jeremy spent a year in the Catholic seminary after which he spent two years as the Director of Youth Ministry for a parish in Lincoln, Nebraska. In June of 2003, Jeremy started Epiphany Studio Productions as a means of combining his passion and love for the Catholic faith with his passion and talents in the theater. He has since performed for thousands of audience members in the U.S. as well as Internationally at World Youth Day 2005 in Cologne, Germany.

Cavins Maggie Mahrt

Maggie Mahrt is an international Catholic performer who currently lives in Seattle, WA. Maggie traveled for four years as St. Therese of Lisieux in the popular St. Luke Productions live drama, “Therese.”

Check out Jeremy’s website as he has also created a number of great plays including “Lolek”, the one-man drama about the life of Pope John Paul II

and “Alessandro” the gripping one man drama that brings to life the true and fascinating story of the early 20th Century virgin-martyr, St. Maria Goretti. Maria, a young Italian teenager at the time of her death, was brutally murdered by an acquaintance of the family for refusing – out of love for God and her purity – to give in to his sexual advances. Maria forgave her aggressor as she lay dying in the hospital and she prayed that he might one day join her in Heaven. Written from the perspective of Alessandro her murderer, who experienced a dramatic conversion in prison and later testified for the cause of Maria’s
canonization, this play takes you through the events that led up to Maria’s loss of life, and how she subsequently helped Alessandro to find his own.
