Day Three

June 16  Wednesday ~  Kedesh, Caesarea Philippi, Capernaum, Mount of Beatitudes ~  After breakfast we will drove to the northern edge of the Sea of Galilee and on to the archeological dig at Kedesh.  The group was able to observe an archeological dig in action where Emily previously worked two years ago. Next we traveled north through the Hula Valley to scenic Caesarea Philippi, where Peter first identified Jesus as the Messiah. Jeff gave a wonderful teaching on about Peter's confession that Jesus was the Messiah. Then we stopped at the Mt. of Beatitudes for a time of reflection. Next we stopped to view the recovered 1st century fishing boat at Kibbutz Nof Ginosar and from there took a cruise across the Sea of Galilee in a larger modern version of the Galilean fishing boats and got off at Capernaum, where we had mass and later toured the remains of an early synagogue on the site of the 1st century synagogue where Jesus taught. Happily all of our pilgrims have arrived now! We all had a St. Peter fish dinner before heading back to our hotel to pack up as tomorrow we head for Jerusalem!
