June 19 Saturday ~ Dead Sea, Masada, En Gedi, Qumran, Qasar El Yehud, Judean Wilderness ~ Early this morning we again traveled through the Judean Wilderness toward the Dead Sea. Our first stop was at Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Then we stopped right on the banks of the Jordan River to have mass outdoors at Qasar El Yehud, followed by a teaching by Jeff about the significant things that happened at this spot such as the baptism of Jesus and the crossing of the Israelites. Then we drove south to Masada, the palace fortress built by Herod the Great, ascending to the top by cable car. Our last stop was to float in the Dead Sea.
