June 22 Tuesday ~ Ein Kerem, Jaffa ~ After we checked out of the hotel, we left Jerusalem and made a few very special stops on our last day in Israel. First we visited the model of Jerusalem of the 2nd Temple period. Then we traveled a short way out of Jerusalem to Ein Kerem, John the Baptist's hometown. We climbed up to the Church of the Visitation. The courtyard displays the Mary's Song, the Magnificat, in many different languages. As we continued, we traveled through Old Testament lands to the Elah Valley where David slew Goliath. We celebrated the final mass of the pilgrimage as a full group in Joppa at St. Peter's Church. Appropriately, it is a city of partings and departure. Here we say good-bye to each other and our guides and drivers before heading to the post-tour or the airport.
