After an early mass we depart for various shore excursions on the island of Rhodes. Rhodes is famous as the location in ancient times of the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world. While nothing remains of the massive statue, its existence was confirmed by the historian Pliny after its destruction in the earthquake of 226 BC. Rhodes also holds the tradition that St. Paul's ship stopped at St. Paul’s Bay on his way to Rome. Some of had time to stroll through the medieval walled city at the port. We sailed for Crete at 6pm. The winds picked up and the ride was a bit wavy!
