For those of you who are attending "Jesus the Rabbi: Following Him Day by Day," at St. Vincent's, here is the list of the 12 periods of Bible history and the 14 narrative books that tell the story. At our class on Tuesday evening, Jeff spoke about the Tools of a Disciple, which include the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the Bible. To know our story and our faith so we can "Go and make disciples," we have two amazing resources that explain it to us. The catechism explains the faith in an orderly way beginning with the Creed (our story), next the Sacraments (how to enter the story), Life in Christ (how to live in the story), and Prayer. Jeff taught how the narrative story of the Bible can read in 3 months by reading 4 chapters per day of the the 14 books listed on this download.
A full color chart of the 12 periods and 14 books that can tuck into your Bible is the basis for the Jeff's DVD series, "The Bible Timeline: the Story of Salvation." If you are looking for the chart, you can purchase it locally at St. George's Bookstore or order it from Ascension Press.
For those of you who would like to go deeper into the Catechism, the Archdiocese offers a two year program just on the catechism with many local dynamic teachers and priests as instructors at the Archbishop Harry J. Flynn Catechetical Institute.
